It can carry the same number of passengers who travel in a Shatabdi Express.
Vande Bharat, India's fastest train, reached the 180 kmph speed limit during a test run, Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw said. The locomotive-less achieved this feat during the second phase of the trail run done on Kota-Nagda for a 225 km section.
"VandeBharat-2 speed trial started between Kota-Nagda section at 120/130/150 & 180 Kmph," he wrote on Twitter and shared a clip from the train trial run.
Vande Bharat is designed to run at a speed of 200 kmph, provided the tracks and signals permit. It has 16 coaches. It can carry the same number of passengers who travel in a Shatabdi Express.
Vande Bharat has aerodynamically designed driver cabins at both ends. This cuts the time of loco reversal at origin and destination stations.
